Administrative set up of the University is based on Maharashtra Universities Act 1994 which envisages a Vice-Chancellor centric administration. Vice Chancellor is the Head of the University as well as appointing and disciplinary authority for Class I Officers and Teachers of the University. A generalized flow chart of University administration is given here for ready reference.

There are four parallel administrative streams, each with a statutory officer of the rank of Registrar as its head directly reporting to the Vice-Chancellor. These administrative streams are

• General Administration and Establishment (with Registrar at its head), 

• Academic Administration and Development (headed by Director, Board of College and University Development (BCUD) ),

• Examinations and related work (headed by Controller of Examinations) 

• Finance and Accounts Section (headed by a Finance and Accounts Officer).

General Administration and Establishment Section works under administrative control of the Registrar who is the Principal Administrative Officer of the University. It deals with service matters of the employees, general administration and record of the University. The open and transparent faculty and staff selection procedure of the University has been appreciated by the Chancellor and the Government and other Universities of Maharashtra have been asked to implement the same.

Board of College and University Development (BCUD) administers all the academic activities and functions of the University including affiliations, academic audit of colleges and schools, syllabi development, interdisciplinary and interinstitutional collaborations, liaison with funding agencies and research activity of the University. The Board also assesses requirement of development of new courses and curricula keeping pace with the development in academics and industrial fields. Several innovative steps have been implemented to elevate the academic standards and to formulate the academic discipline.
