University has a well-established NSS Unit. The NSS unit has been highly active in post-Killari earthquake scenario. A small village, named Rashtriya Sewagram (named after NSS), at Chalburga in Ausa Tehsil of Latur District has been constructed utilizing the labour of students of NSS for rehabilitation of earthquake affected population.

University NSS unit has introduced a scheme of holding yearly University level Central Camp in the area for the girls. State level youth camps are also organized for creating AIDS awareness through various programmes such as folk songs and dances. National level NSS camps have been organized at Chalburga with participants drawn from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Orissa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Establishment of an NSS Open Unit, the first of its kind in the State, is also a unique achievement. The Open Unit has members drawn from public including senior citizens. Presently the Open Unit is devoted to propagation of family planning ideals. It has also published a book on chief religions in India with an idea of promoting communal harmony.
