The Examination
section is headed by Controller of Examinations, and is responsible
for conducting examinations, declaring results and awarding degrees.
The University follows an annual pattern of examination while the
Campus Schools follow a Semester system of teaching and examination.
The evaluation of the answer sheets is done by external examiners at
a Central Assessment Programme. The answer sheets
are masked before evaluation so that examiners do not know identity
of candidate. The assessed answer sheets are then moderated by
another subject expert for discrepancy in assessment, if any. The
moderated sheets are scrutinized for checking again whether all
questions have been evaluated and whether the total of marks given
is correct. The final mark list
is then made by unmasking the answer sheets and entering the roll
number of student in the mark list. There is no revaluation of the
answer sheets to avoid malpractice. There is only re-totaling of
marks on application. This method of 100% moderation and scrutiny
avoids delay involved in revaluation. The system works efficiently
and results are declared within the stipulated 40 days from the date
of examination. The results and mark sheets have been completely
computerized. The marks given by the examiners/moderators are
transcribed into mark sheets by digital scanners avoiding the manual
transfer process, thereby eliminating human errors. The examination
practices of the University have been appreciated by the Chancellor
and the Government and they are being implemented as common standard
examination code for all the Universities of Maharashtra.
