About The School

The School of Life Sciences was established with a stress on interdisciplinary teaching and research in Modern Biology. This is reflected in the areas of specializations of the teaching faculty members. The school offers two year M. Sc. (Biotechnology) and M.Sc. (Microbiology) courses distributed over four semesters. Syllabi of the courses are updated periodically to keep pace with the state of the art developments in Biotechnology. Dissertation work and training in presentation of scientific data is an integral part of the curriculum. Students are encouraged to work in centers of excellence, in various parts of the country, during summer holidays. The school maintains a small collection of microbial strains used in teaching and research. These strains are provided to teaching institutions on request. Consultancy and technical advises are available in various areas of Biotechnology (Details available on request). The broad areas of research pursued by the school faculty are - Microbial Technology, Plant Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics. School frequently conducts  training programs/workshops in Life Sciences.

Any Science graduate with any of Life and related sciences as one of the subjects can take admission. Admission is based strictly on merit.
