About The School

The report of the Committee for the establishment of this University submitted to the Government of Maharashtra had recommended 12 schools in the campus. One of it was School of Media studies. The School established in June 1999.

Media is the fourth estate of democracy. Mass Communication is an integral part of our democracy and Media studies have been called as hallmark of success in this category. The School proposes to establish contacts with other campus schools, colleges and the society to bring about meaningful dialogue, which is very necessary for healthy growth of interdisciplinary studies. The school has well equipped Information Technology laboratory. There are 7 computers with latest configuration, one printer, LCD projector, two OverHead Projectors etc. The School will connect with the Internet with the Wi-Fi technology.

Prof. Devdatt Tungar is looking after the school as a Coordinator. There are two departments under this school.

  1. Department of Library and Information Science.
  2. Department of Mass communication and Journalism.

The DLIS of this school has one Postgraduate Master Degree course named Master of Library and Information Science (M. Lib. & I. Sc.). The course Master of Library and Information Science started in June 1999. It is a two years integrated course. There are four semesters and the course is based on Credits system. The intake capacity for this course is 20. Any graduate of recognized university is eligible for the admission of this course. Six students of department have qualified State Eligibility Test (SET). The passed out students of this department are working in different Colleges, schools and different organizations on various positions like teachers, librarians etc. The central library has books in library and information science in which ---- are the reference books. The library subscribes --- journals and periodicals. Presently the department of Library and Information Science does not have full time faculty. However the teachers and staff of the Central Library of the University and the few college librarians teach the course on clock hour basis. The names of the teachers are,
